Description
Made for comfort-seeking outdoors lovers, the Pursuit Plus is a 7.5cm thick, self inflating sleeping mat for maximum comfort in the wilderness. Available in two versions: - the weight efficient Contour gives you space to roll over or sleep on your side - the luxurious Rectangular version gives you extra space to spread out Both feature Horizontal Delta Coring which creates foam-supported air channels for serious comfort at a low weight. The XPEL Multi-Function Valve allows the mat to be rolled up easily, and a side-loading stuff sack streamlines the packing process. Pursuit Plus is built with bluesign APPROVED, RCS-recycled, solution-dyed fabric to create a mat with a high level of comfort and a low environmental impact, and is part of our 1% for the Planet commitment.
Technical Features

Solution dyeing is a process where dye is added to the liquid polymer before the fibre is extruded. The benefit of this technology is that energy and water use as well as C0₂ emissions are significantly reduced. In solution dyeing, the colour runs throughout the yarn, not just on the surface as it would with conventional dyeing. This is easy to imagine if you think of the cross section of a carrot (colour throughout) compared to a radish (colour only on the exterior). Solution-dyed colours may not be quite as intense, but they also do not fade like conventionally-dyed materials.

bluesign is a system run by an independent, Swiss-based third-party group that monitors every step in a supply chain to ensure the use of the most benign materials. bluesign APPROVED is a recognition that the manufacture of materials in a product creates the fewest emissions and least pollution. It also signifies high standards for humane conditions for workers and material safety standards for consumers.

Fabrics or materials used in these products are certified as recycled according to the Recycled Claim Standard. RCS is an international, voluntary standard that uses the ISO definition for 'recycled'. It sets criteria for third-party certification of recycled input and ensures responsibility throughout the supply chain. Sea to Summit considers environmental impact in its choice of materials, and recycled materials are chosen only when they meet appropriate performance and durability levels.

This Sea to Summit innovation removes 40% of the foam in a self-inflating mat, leaving Delta-shaped horizontal 'cores'. This saves weight and reduces packed volume while creating foam-supported, air-filled channels that significantly enhance your comfort. Lighter, more packable, more comfortable: a win-win-win.

The Sea to Summit XPEL valve was the first valve developed specifically for self-inflating sleeping mats. It integrates a one-way inflate port, a large deflate port and a fine-tune button into a single, low-profile unit. The genius of the XPEL valve is that to deflate the sleeping mat, the valve is flipped over, allowing air to escape but not return into the mat. This turns the one-way inflate valve into a one-way deflate valve - preventing the mat from drawing itself full of air as it is rolled up.The XPEL valve fits the nozzle of an Airstream pump (sold separately) if you want to 'top up' your self-inflating mat which you can also do manually.

To create a sleep system appropriate for anticipated conditions (especially when the ground is colder), it is essential to know how well a sleeping mat resists heat loss into the ground. This resistance is known as an R-Value. Sea to Summit has always provided independent lab-tested R-Values for its sleeping mats. Since January 2020 we have used the industry standard ASTM F3340 test. Other factors determine how well a sleeping mat will insulate; but the standardised ASTM test is a good starting point for comparing performance across brands. Not all published R-Values are lab tested. Look for the 'ASTM F3340' icon - if this is not present, it is likely that the R-Value has been estimated.

Frequently Asked questions
What's the advantage of the Contour shape over the Rectangular?
The contour gives you much more shoulder/elbow room to roll over and sleep on your side than normal tapered pads without increasing weight like a Rectangular mat would. The Rectangular shape is designed for comfort-oriented sleepers who want maximum space to spread out.
Are there any PFAS / flame retardant treatments on the mat?
All Sea to Summit sleep products (mats, sleeping bags, liners and pillows) are non-PFAS and flame-retardant free.
Is the Pursuit Plus mat noisy?
No. The materials and foam-core construction of self-inflating mats make them quieter than air mats. The Pursuit Plus uses a soft, textured polyester that produces very little sound.
