Alto one and two-person is a semi-freestanding tent perfect for weight-conscious backpackers who still want a high degree of livability in their shelter.

The revolutionary Tension Ridge architecture of the Alto allows for taller oversized doors and vertical walls that create an unrivalled amount of space. Apex Vents positioned at the highest point of the tent effectively expel moist air and minimize condensation, and the variable rainfly can be rolled back on both sides for stargazing, then deployed quickly from inside the tent.

Tension Ridge raises the tent’s shape upwards for more usable head-and-shoulder space and creates truly higher doors for easier entry and more vestibule storage.
Color-coded ultra-strong lightweight DAC NSL poleset and quick connect pole feet make for easy setup.
Made for longevity and superior waterproof performance by using premium materials including DAC poles, YKK zippers, 7-series aluminum hardware and seam-taped PeU-coated rainfly.
FairShare storage system: tent packs into 3 stuff sacks to split the load. After set-up, stuff sacks transform into gear storage pockets.
Lightbar: add a headlamp and secure the tent pole storage sack to the apex of the tent for soft even illumination.
Rainfly can be setup first for a dry setup and takedown.
Includes 9 Ground Control Light Tent Pegs.
4 detachable guylines which can be quickly attached to loops on each tent corner.

The 15 cm deep 15D nylon tub floor is rated to 1200mm hydrostatic head – ultralight, waterproof and durable.
Ultra-lightweight 15D polyester mesh inner for maximum ventilation. Its green colour provides excellent visibility.
Silicone / Polyether Polyurethane coated 15D nylon rainfly fabric provides long-lasting waterproof performance.
The poles of the Tension Ridge„¢ are swept upwards – not angled downwards as is common in tents. This raises the tent’s shape, providing significantly more liveable space.
Apex Vent - at the highest point of the tent, this oversized vent efficiently expels warm air to prevent condensation and can be easily zipped shut from inside the tent.
Baseline Vents allow you to control airflow and effectively manage humidity and condensation in wet conditions without letting the rain in.
Quick Connect Foot is a beautifully designed, machined aluminium clip that attaches the pole and the inner foot with ease and is stronger than plastic buckles that can break.

Frequently Asked questions

Is a footprint necessary with this tent?

Our Alto tent has a very light floor that's waterproof to 1200mm. It can be used on wet grass and undergrowth without a footprint, however, a footprint helps protect the tent floor from damage through abrasive surfaces and sharp objects.

What does 'semi-freestanding' mean?

Rather than needing to secure a tent with poles attached to every corner, a semi-freestanding tent may only need one pole to hold up the structure and reinforced with stakes at the corners. Semi-freestanding tents are lighter weight and have smaller packed-volume.

Our Alto tents have a lighter poleset than the Telos, but they need to have the corners staked out at the head end.

What are the differences between regular and plus models?

The Alto Plus tent has a nylon inside fabric with unzippable vents rather than mesh to keep cold air from getting into the inner tent. The Plus model also features a more waterproof floor (2500mm against 1200mm).

Will a 79\" x 25\" sleeping pad fit inside the tent?

You can squeeze a large rectangular sleeping pad into the Alto TR 1 tent, but it was primarily designed for ultralight backpackers who use smaller pads.

Is a tent worth the extra weight over a bivy shelter?

We think so! In addition to shelter, this tent gives you room to sit up, excellent ventilation (so almost no condensation), and a vestibule to store wet gear.
